Looking for an easy low-cost Christmas craft? If so, it’s time to dig out some paper rolls and make a Paper Roll Santa Claus with the kids!
We love a good paper roll craft and this adorable Santa make is our latest addition to our Christmas catalogue, which already includes angels, elves, snowflake ornaments, snowmen, reindeer and a mischievous Grinch.
To make crafting a paper roll Santa super easy, we’ve created a printable template with everything you need to recreate this jolly Father Christmas character.
How to Make a Paper Roll Santa Claus Craft:
This Christmas Santa craft is great for kids of all ages and with a little help cutting out the shapes, the it’s also achievable for preschoolers to make.
Materials you will need:
- Paper Roll
- Red, White, Skin-Colored, Black and Patterned Paper
- White, Black and Yellow Felt
- White and Pink (or red) Pom-Pom
- Black Marker Pen
- String
- Scissors
- Glue Stick
- Santa Claus Template ( Members will need to login into the Arty Crafty Kids members area to access to the template)

Step 1: Wrap the paper roll in red paper.
Cut the paper to size and secure with a thick layer of glue.
Step 2: Cut out and trace Santa’s face elements from the template.
Glue the skin-colored face onto the paper roll.
Followed by Santa’s beard and moustache.
Step 3: Glue Santa’s hat to the rim of the paper roll.
Position the hat in line with Santa’s face and secure with glue.
A fold about half way on the hat and glue a white pom-pom onto its tip.
Step 4: Affix a pom-pom nose and draw eyes and a smiley face.
Use a fine tipped black pen to draw two simple dots for eyes and a smiley face.
Step 5: Create Santa’s legs.
Cut out two rectangles on either side of the paper.
Cut smaller vertical rectangles in the front and back of the paper roll to define Santa’s legs.
Step 6: Affix a black belt out of the felt.
Step 7: Add some detailing to Santa’s robe.
Add a golden belt buckle and some white trim (using felt) to Santa’s hat, coat and boots.
Step 8: Cut, trace and assemble Santa’s arms.
And then affix the arms to Santa’s body.
Step 9: Cut, trace and assemble Santa’s present sack.
Tie a piece of string to the top of the sack and affix it to one of Santa’s hands.
