What is Tape Resist Art?
Tape resist art is a creative painting technique where kids can strategically place tape on a surface to form patterns and shapes before applying paint.
Once the paint dries, the tape is carefully peeled off to reveal the unpainted areas.
This process allows for both creative exploration of color and shape, and the anticipation of revealing the finished artwork adds an extra layer of wonder to the entire experience!
It’s also an easy way to create abstract and geometric art!
How to Create the Tape Resist Tulip Painting
Materials:
White Card Stock for Printing
Artist Tape ( Two Different Widths)
Acrylic Paint
Paintbrush

Step-by-Step Instructions
Step 1: Prepare the tulip template.
Apply tape to each of the template’s sides to secure it to the table.
Step 2: Create a pattern with tape.
Use the thinner tape to create a pattern across the template.
The tape can be stuck vertically and horizontally across the tulip with smaller pieces cut to create various geometric shapes.
Step 3: Paint the tulip.
Before the Arty Crafty Kids start painting, ask them to take a moment to think about their color scheme.
For best results, paint the tulip in one color scheme i.e different shades of red and pink and then paint the stem and leaves in varying shades of green.
Step 4: Paint the background.
Paint the background in various shades of blue and for intrigue, add a ray of yellow or orange to create the impression of sunshine.
Step 5: Carefully remove the tape.
While the painting is still wet (this will prevent the tape from getting too stuck!), carefully peel the tape away to reveal the results!
And in just a few simple steps, the tape resist tulip painting is complete!
