Step 1: Create a slit from the edge of the paper plate to the centre.

Arty Crafty Kids | Christmas Crafts for Kids | Design your own 3D Paper Plate Christmas Tree #christmascraft #kidscraft #christmastreecraft

Step 2: Curl the paper plate around to create a cone shape and secure with staples.

Arty Crafty Kids | Christmas Crafts for Kids | Design your own 3D Paper Plate Christmas Tree #christmascraft #kidscraft #christmastreecraft

Step 3: Paint the cone green and leave to dry.

Arty Crafty Kids | Christmas Crafts for Kids | Design your own 3D Paper Plate Christmas Tree #christmascraft #kidscraft #christmastreecraft

Step 4: While the paper plate is drying, cut a few pieces of construction paper into strips (as shown above).

The most observant of you will notice that the strips have been cut with different widths – this is deliberate and not a trick of the eye!

As you cut the strips into triangles, try to keep them in size order (this will help with the next step!).

Arty Crafty Kids | Christmas Crafts for Kids | Design your own 3D Paper Plate Christmas Tree #christmascraft #kidscraft #christmastreecraft

Step 5: Start with the largest set of triangles and create a small fold along the straight edge of the triangle. Attach the triangle via the fold with PVA Glue. The curve of the paper plate will force the paper to point away from the paper plate, creating a ‘spiky pine’ effect.

Start the process from the bottom of the paper plate and gradually work your way around, using the largest triangles at the bottom and smallest on top!

Arty Crafty Kids | Christmas Crafts for Kids | Design your own 3D Paper Plate Christmas Tree #christmascraft #kidscraft #christmastreecraft

Step 6: (Optional) Add a small amount of glue to the tips of the green paper and sprinkle with glitter.

Arty Crafty Kids | Christmas Crafts for Kids | Design your own 3D Paper Plate Christmas Tree #christmascraft #kidscraft #christmastreecraft

Step 7: Wrap a piece of yarn or string between the paper for some additional decor and finish off with a paper star.

Simply draw a star shape on the back of some coloured or glitter paper. Cut it out and glue to the top of the tree!

The 3D Paper Plate Christmas Tree Craft is now Complete!

Unlike last years 3D Paper Plate Christmas Tree, this tree will take a little more time and patience, which makes it an amazingly rewarding craft for older children. As always, it’s all about the process and having fun, and I would love to see your children’s creations over in the Arty Crafty Kids Club facebook group!

Paper Plate Santa

Arty Crafty Kids - Seasonal - Easy Chrsitmas Craft - Paper Plate Santa - Super cute and Super Adorable Paper Plate Santa - An easy and fun Christmas Craft for Kids. Perfect for little hands and independent crafting.

Throughout the entire Christmas period I have agonized (a little dramatic I know) over how to put together the BEST paper plate Santa.

I wanted to make it simple, so kids can actually make it without too much (if any) interference.

It obviously had to be super cute and not too fussy.

In my mind, a paper plate Santa had to be exactly that, without too many add-ons or materials.

And with just a few days to go until the big day, I think we’ve achieved an easy, fun and utterly adorable paper plate Santa – what to do you think?

Here’s how you can make it at home!

Add a big red nose.

Between the border of the skin coloured paint and red, add plenty of PVA glue.

Separate and thin out the cotton wool and spread along the trail of glue, leaving some space to create the appearance of a hanging Santa hat.

Glitter has a tendency to go EVERYWHERE!

As my family live far and wide, all of our Christmas need to be posted rather than hand delivered and for this reason, I used a pack of coloured pre-made cards and envelopes.

Arty Crafty Kids - Seasonal - Scrap Paper and Button DIY Christmas Cards

Using straight strips of scrap paper, we created four designs: A Christmas Tree, Bauble, Star and Snowflake.

This tutorial will show you how to make a snowflake, which will give you the basic method to create the other designs.

To begin, simply cut a four strips of coloured scrap paper.

With Christmas just a few weeks away, we’ve officially got our Christmas craft on and today I’m showing you this rather cool 3D Paper Plate Christmas Tree.

This simple craft was a HUGE hit with the girls.

They adored every element of glittery sticky process and if you are considering trying this craft out with a toddler or preschooler, then it’s a great activity for fine motor skills!

Excluding a small amount of help assembling the Christmas Tree, this Christmas craft is entirely child-led and would be perfect for group craft sessions at school, preschool or playgroup.

My girls couldn’t resist balancing their Christmas Trees on their heads, so perhaps they could be adapted and used as Christmas party hats?
