How to Make a Paper Plate Dog Craft

Materials: 

  • Paper Plate 
  • Neutral or Colored & Black Paper
  • Black Marker Pen
  • Scissors 
  • Glue 
  • Dog Template (members will need to login to access the templates)

Step-by-Step Paper Plate Dog Tutorial

Step 1: Draw the shaggy dog shape.

Use a pencil to draw a continuous zig-zag line around the perimeter of the paper plate.

Step 2: Cut around the paper plate.

Cut around the paper plate to create a spiky, ‘shaggy’ look ( it will look very similar to a doodle breed or west highland terrier).

Either paint the paper plate or leave it white!

Step 3: Trace the dog template.

Cut out the dog elements from the template and trace the pieces onto colored papers.

Trace the eyes and nose onto black paper.

Step 4: Glue the dog’s eye patch.

Glue the patch within the upper area of the paper plate.

Step 5: Glue the dog’s nose and eyes.

Position to the dog’s nose into the middle of the paper plate with the eyes sitting just above.

Step 6: Glue the dog’s ears.

Affix the ears in a parallel position and inline with the dog’s eyes.

Step 7: Draw some facial expressions.

Use a black marker pen to draw eye lashes and a cute smile – this gives the dog a cute, friendly expression.
